Semi-Closed: follow-up to SI review

I've decided to close TNM as serving the needs of media people is, well . . . media is hardly a profitable segment to serve, is it?. But I'll be using what I learned here to launch a new site later this summer.

In the meantime, there has been much reaction to the new Sports Illustrated iPad app and mostly it is negative. No surprise, really. The app fails to live up to the expectations the magazine itself set when it released a tablet demo video late last year. Additionally, pricing the content at cover prices clearly disrespecting the readership.

A typical review in iTunes is this one from someone with the tag "Chriscjrlaw":

You people are #%£¥€ crazy. The publishing industry needs to wake up. Who in their right mind is going to pay $5 for a digital version? Not me and mot many others apparently. I have no objection to paying for worth while content. Apple really should have taken control of the market like they did for music.
