Gregg Hano to leave Bonnier to become CEO of Mag+

Gregg Hano, S.V.P. Corporate Sales and Technology Group at Bonnier, has announced that he will be leaving the publisher to become CEO of Mag+ effective May 7.

Staffan Ekholm, co-founder of Mag+, will be returning to Sweden to focus on international expansion and business development, the company said.
"He's the perfect person to take Mag+ to the next level and accelerate its growth far beyond the publishing industry," said Ekholm.

"Gregg has been a visionary and evangelist for the mobile digital publishing industry since before it was an industry and in many ways he's been part of the Mag+ team from the very beginning."

Hano was led the team at Bonnier that worked on the original Popular Science tablet edition that utilizes the Mag+ publishing solution. That app, Popular Science+, as well as the other apps for magazines within the Technology group, such as American Photo+, have often been sited as good models for other publishers, with their native design, and logical tablet navigation.

"Our goal with Pop Sci was to define the future of digital publishing as a viable and profitable business by offering our readers something new, exciting and different," said Hano. "Mag+ was the springboard that made it possible. The platform lets content creators focus on what matters most - content - and fully take advantage of this amazing ecosystem. This is the future of publishing and I'm excited to be a part of it."
